A little bit about me…
Hey y’all,
Thanks for wanting to learn more about what I do!
I consider myself to be a life long student and want to learn all of the things! One day in a meditation, visualizing my highest self, I just kept picturing myself as a wise medicine woman. That was who I wanted to be. Then the term, “Medicine Mother” came to me. Not necessarily as in referring to mothers who have birthed, but the Mother within all of us. Mother Nature, our highest self. The wise womban version of us who mothers our inner child. That is the Medicine Mother.
I want to make it very clear that although I use the title, “Medicine Mother Midwifery,” I AM NOT a licensed midwife. Not a CNM, a CPM or a CM. I am an authentic birth attendant. I do not have any professional medical training, nor do I want it. I have, however, been studying birth almost every day since 2023 when I became a Certificed Holistic Birth Doula under Whapio and the Matrona. This year, I decided to take my studies even deeper with Whapio in her year long Cohort dedicated to learning all about traditional birth keeping.
As a traditional birth attendant, I educate women about the anatomy and physiology of the birthing process, the holistic stages of birth and how a woman will move through an altered state of consciousness during labor. I help her make informed decisions about what she wants her pregnancy and birth to look like and how to navigate her medical support team, if she should chose to have one. Lastly, I am there by her side to witness her during her birthing process, as she is transformed, as she flys and brings her babe back from the stars.
As an Ayurvedic birth & postpartum doula, I have a very specific and unique set of skills to help a woman transition through birth and to help heal her immediately postpartum and in her 6 week sacred window. According to Ayurveda, how a woman heals in those first 42 days post birth will dictate her health for the next 42 years of her life. It is so important to mother the mother.
I truly love Ayurveda and its ancient wisdom. I have been studying Ayurveda on my own through books and personal friends/mentors since about 2014. In 2024 I became a Level 1, Ayurvedic Wellness Coach through The Shakti School. I’m currently working on Level 2 to become an Ayurvedic Health Counselor where I will have a deeper understanding of disease pathways from an Ayurvedic perspective.
I practice feminine form Ayurveda, working with women to help them connect with a deeper, more intuitive understanding of their health. Bringing balance back to their blood cycles and their bodies. I help women to attune themselves with the seasons, outside as well as within, I teach Ayurvedic cleansing for overall health & fertility and I teach women how to live an Ayurvedic lifestyle, meaning a life in tuned with nature and their personal mind-body wellness needs, as every womban has different needs of nutrition, exercise, sleep schedules, different likes and wants, different meditation styles and so much more.
As for me specifically, I fell in love with birth when I learned I was pregnant in May of 2023. I lost my babe 9 days after my first pregnancy test and it deeply changed me. I hope to one day offer bereavement work for women who have lost pregnancies and babies and to eventually become a Death Doula.
I realized that every womban is a vessel for a soul to cross from the spirit realm into our reality and what could be more divine than that?
Changing birth can change the earth.
I believe if more women realize this and have this experience, our world will be a better place.
I fell in love with Ayurveda back in 2014 (I think it was, it’s been so long) when I was doing my yoga teacher training. I loved yoga so much. It was my first introduction into the wellness world. I then became a personal trainer, an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and a Pre & Postnatal Coach as well.
I still love to practice yoga when I can. I love my morning meditations and readings, though I don’t get to do it every day. I love lattes and matcha and I even work at a super busy brunch spot. It’s fun and flexible but also super exhausting and I can’t wait for the day to come when I’m a full time birth worker and woman’s wellness coach (it’s coming soon, y’all!).
I used to be big into painting and making art. I miss it and really want to get back into it. Hopefully you’ll see my pieces for sale here one day! I love my dog, Riley and my boyfriend, Michael and we live in a really cute cottage on the North Shore of Long Island, NY. We hope to one day have a homestead with 10 home schooled babies!
