I once heard my favorite teacher in fitness say she had “Murves” - aka - Muscles and curves! I loved it! I like the look of a strong, full figured woman! “Heroine Chic” used to be the thing in the 90s. In the 00s we had the unrealistic big booty movement and most recently, “Strong is the new Skinny” which WAS my favorite until now. Because even that idea promoted a really difficult level of fitness to achieve, that most women just aren’t built for.

I want to be and know women who are very strong. In every sense of the word. But I also want us to love our curves and our cute belly’s and our thick hips. Our womb is not supposed to be flat. It is supposed to have a layer of fat around it for protection. Having such a low body fat percentage so that our abs pop is actually no good for our hormonal health (for some women, depending on your dosha).

Moving your body is essential for your health and should be done every day in ways that are fun, enjoyable and appropriate for the season you’re in.

I offer private personal training and yoga for maiden, mother and matriarch.

For the pregnant mama, strength training and prenatal yoga can improve your posture, reduce back pain, strengthen your core and pelvic floor muscles, improving your chance of a shorter labor, increase your endurance to help with the demand of pregnancy, reduce the risk of gestational diabetes, increase your energy, improve your mental health and reduce pregnancy swelling and have a faster recovery postpartum.

For my postpartum mamas, we can strengthen your pelvic floor, address and improve Diastasis Recti, improve energy levels, mental clarity, reduce anxiety and depression, improve posture, sleep and make you overall stronger to do what you need to do as a mother.

Benefits of Movement for Matriarch:

Once we enter menopause, our estrogen and progesterone levels decrease significantly. Estrogen is our lady of all things youthful and energetic, which is why we see so many changes during this season of our lives. But exercise can help with so many of the things that estrogen used to provide for us, like:

Increasing muscle mass, improving bone density, improving our mental health, reducing hot flashes, balancing our hormones, regulate blood sugar, as menopause can increase the risk of diabetes, reduce the risk of heart disease and improve our sleep.
