According to Ayurveda, the Spring and the Fall are the best time of year to do a cleanse, as they are a time of transition.
As we focus on the Fall (Vata season) you may notice you’re feeling quite scatter-brained, your anxiety is rising, you’re feeling colder, dryer and your sleep is more interrupted than usual.
In the summer time, your Agni, digestive fire, begins to disburse throughout your body and you’re less hungry due to the heat that has taken you over. As we move into the fall and winter months, that heat and Agni begin to move back into your core, allowing you to eat more hardy foods for the winter.
However, we can’t just jump right into it and eat a hardy cheesy casserole! We need to help that heat move back into our core and rev up our digestion again!
And because the fall is so cold and dry, we need to put some warming spices in our foods and make sure it’s nice and cooked and well oiled to balance out the fall!
